Training courses, workshops & twilight sessions

Good practice & other training

Twilight sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes maximum in length and are often scheduled in staff meeting slots in schools and colleges. They will be a mixture of listening, discussions, and some actitivites but their very short duration means that twilights are best seen as introductions or 'awareness raisers' rather than significant pieces of CPD.

Workshops tend to be practical and have an emphasis on active participation and may be focussed on the use of particular resources or strategies in 'problem-solving' situations. They are best suited to topics requiring skills development where participants are hoping to learn how to 'do' things differently and they fit well into half day formats.

Training courses will usually use a mixture of methods including listening, reflecting and discussing as well as activities designed to develop knowledge and skills. This format works well for introducing topics that may be unfamiliar to participants who will need to "know about" the key issues as well as "know how" to do things. Training courses typically work best in half day and whole day formats. Some of our training courses are designed to run over more than one day.
